LiDAR/Southland_2021_2023_NZVD2016_DEM (ImageServer)

Service Description:
Digital elevation model at 1m resolution.  Created from LiDAR captured between 2020 and 2023.

Digital elevation model covering final and accepted DEM tiles supplied for the PGF project.

The layer includes processing templates to display the data as:
  • Elevation (default)
  • Hillshade
  • Shaded relief
  • Contours (without labels)
  • Aspect
Slope layers have also been generated from this DEM.  You can find them here: slope and smoothed slope.

Please note the following specifications for the LiDAR on which the ground height information is derived.
  • Height accuracy: +/- 0.2 metre @ 95% confidence level
  • Projection and datum: New Zealand Transverse Mercator (NZTM2000) / New Zealand Vertical Datum (NZVD2016)
  • Point density: nominal 4 points per square metre
While every effort has been made to ensure the ground height information is accurate, Environment Southland does not accept any responsibility or liability for errors in the ground height information. The use of the ground height information is at the user's own risk.   If the accuracy of the ground height information is critical to its use, for example, but not restricted to, construction works then the ground height should be confirmed by survey.

  1. Create mosaic dataset
  2. Add rasters
  3. Calculate statistics
  4. Build overviews
  5. Add raster function
  6. Share as image service
